I was surfing Amazon last night and I came to a realisation about digital cameras, that it would be better to have a compact-style point and shoot camera now than to wait forever till I could afford a digital SLR.

I have a Canon EOS 500 that I just never use, so I figured why not try and sell it then put the cash towards a digital camera of some kind? The other neat-o thing about a little compact digicam is that, given that I'm normally loaded with digital stuff anyway (iPod, cellphone, Palm, etc), it wouldn't be much more hassle to carry around a little camera all the time. Often I see something that I think would make a good picture, but curse the fact that I don't have a camera with me....

So, here's a few neat cameras:

Canon Powershot A40

Nikon CoolPix 2500

Nikon CoolPix 775 - this is the one my Dad has. It's really small and neat.

So, we'll see how I get on trying to sell the old Canon......
