Half an hour left until we find out about DC vs Heller.

I'm off to the Ohio BMV today at lunch to get the title notarized on my Corolla, then I'm going to drop it off at the mechanics shop and let them worry about disposal of the car (and I assume they take it apart for the parts). They are going to give me $100 for it, which is fine since without an engine it's only worthwhile as parts and I don't have the skills to take it apart and sell the parts myself.

I went to a Honda dealer last night looking for a new car, but they didn't have any Civics or Corollas in the price and mileage ranges that I wanted. As you might imagine, they are selling compact economy cars like hotcakes right now.

No time today to really do much shopping, but Friday evening or Saturday afternoon I'm going to go hit all the dealers in Lancaster and see what I can find.

My goal is to find a Honda Civic with under 35,000 miles and under $13k. Won't happen, but that's the perfect baseline for my search. Other cars I'm considering include the Toyota Corolla, Yaris, and Matrix, the Honda Fit, and Hyundai Accent. Non-Japanese cars like Hyundai tend to be several thousand dollars cheaper, or more, than their Japanese counterparts. In particular I can pick up an Accent, brand new, for about $10K, while a brand new Corolla is closer to $16-$17k.

I'm also going to look at buying a new car, since used are so hard to find right now. I'll get a couple price quotes on new cars this weekend.

There are other options in the compact economy class, like Ford Focus, but they really don't compare. American car makers put all their development time into SUVs and totally ignored the small cars, so now even if I wanted to buy one from them, they just don't have any serious offerings to compete with the Civic or Yaris or Accent.
