Internet, meet my Mazda:

Now this isn t just any Mazda. It s mine. And she s special. She ranks right up there with Jeff, and the dog, and hashbrowns and nonfat lattes.

She was my first brand new car. I drove her off the lot with about 30 miles on her (more than two years ago already), which were all put on by Jeff and I during our test drives. She s been good to me. Very good. In fact, we just reached 30,000 miles together so today we got an oil change. It was almost like a celebration but without cake and decorations. Oh, and there weren t any gifts either, but I ll forgive her this time.

Usually, I hate getting oil changes. Let s put it this way - it just sucks taking your car to have any sort of maintenance done as a female. They always try to sell you something that you don t know what it is. But today the good people at the 10 minute oil change place were good to us. And I m glad about that.

I just reached my half way point as far as payments go, but I already know I want her to last much longer than that (which is why I get oil changes, duh). I can t even begin to imagine my life without a car payment. Hell, if I could, I d keep this car for the rest of my life just to have no car payments. But somehow, I don t think she ll run that long.

Anyway, what my parents always taught me about cars is true - if you take care of them, they last. When I went to the oil change place today there was nothing they could tell me I needed besides new oil because I TAKE CARE OF MY CAR (ya hear that, Ma?). It s a good feeling when the oil covered man tells you that your car is healthy.

And I guess that s just it - as much as I hate going to get her oil changed, it s almost like visiting the doctor. It s like a clean bill of health. I got to drive away this afternoon knowing that nothing is wrong with my car and that noise I think I sometimes may hear is all in my head because SHE IS HEALTHY. Which is good because I can t imagine my life without her.

I also cannot imagine my life without trips to Milwaukee to see my friends and family, or trips to the dog park with the beagle. There is no one else that knows how good my voice really is when I sing scream at the top of my lungs to my favorite songs. Her steering wheel has caught my tears, her front seats have been witness to kisses and hugs and her backseat has taken very good care of the beagle on long car rides. Plus, she has 6 (SIX) airbags so I know she ll protect me if something should ever happen.

Me and the Mazda, we have a pretty good relationship, if I do say so myself.
