Why We Drove It: The Nissan Altima Coupe is among the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class when equipped with the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The only vehicle available to us for a test drive was the V-6.

In surveys that J.D. Power and Associates has conducted with verified owners of the 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe, the people that actually own and drive one told us:

On rough roads and potholes, suspension is too stiff for small and light vehicle.

Very rigid suspension. [I] feel every bump, not a smooth ride on poor road.

Rear window [is] large enough for good view, but when raining visibility is obscured.

 Rear view visibility is poor.

Engine provides plenty of power when needed and still [gives] 32 mpg average mileage.

 Excellent performance and good economy.

Seatbelts are uncomfortable for those of us under 5-ft. 5-in.

 [My] clutch assembly
failed in less than 100 miles.

Exterior styling [is] good [but] limited color choice.

 Paint chips very easily.

Road noise is loud, especially with back seats down.

The 3.5-liter V6 with CVT is amazing.

Back seat [provides] limited headroom for tall people.

 Trunk is smaller than average.

 Great interior and exterior styling.

 Good quality and comfort.

 Great power and acceleration.

 Fun to drive!
