Change of employer: time for a new car. I started working for Qoppo Test & Quality Management as from today (April 1st) and thus had to hand in my Renault. And because I did not yet place an order for a new car, I will drive a Volvo C70 for the time being, until its lease ends in June of this year.
The C70 is a convertible with a fully mechanical retractable hardtop. With just one push on the button, the top opens or closes in just 30 seconds. Contrary to the pictures above, it has a light grey interior with leather upholstery.
It is nice to temporarily drive this car, especially since I would never have chosen such a car myself. It's not practical enough: the petrol engine only provides me with 140 brake horsepower, yet it is an incredible gas-guzzler. It only has two doors, so it takes quite a few acrobatic skills to gain access to the back seats and requires quite a bit of lateral space to open the doors far enough to get in or out of the car. The light grey lining and upholstery is very susceptible to filth and with an open top, the car leaves me with too little storage space for all of my junk. Finally, an extravert car like a convertible should never be sold in a colour as dull as dark blue (Magic Blue Pearl).
I am in the market for either the new Audi A4 Avant, the Audi A6 Avant (with or without the face lift, depending on when I will place the order) or a BMW 320 Touring. All of these cars have powerful diesel engines and are estates. The A4 Avant will most probably be the car of my choice: its modernised interior just cannot be compared to any other car I know.
