At last week s Detroit auto show, Cadillac showed off their XTS Platinum Concept car, a replacement for the aging DTS/STS sedans.  It eschews big displacement in favor of Cadillac s high-content 3.6-liter V6 engine, in addition to an electric motor, providing plenty of hybrid power.  The concept also features a Plug-In feature, letting owners plug the car in overnight to charge its on-board batteries.  The exterior and interior design follow Cadillac s  Art and Science  paradigm, mimicking the CTS Sedan, only bigger.  The interior also features Cadillac s standard touch screen navigation and other in-car technologies, currently shown in the SRX, as well as a new layered design, inspired by orchid flowers. The XTS Platinum Concept is a handsome car, if you ask me, and should boost Cadillac s sales in the large luxury sedan segment, if and when it goes on sale.  While Cadillac didn t specify an on-sale date or that the concept was production-ready, I would expect the XTS to hit showrooms in 2011 as a 2012 model, given the finished interior which sports production-quality materials.
